Edit Watchlist - Wikipedia, The Free Encyclopedia

The above screenshot shows three Wikipedia sources I will use within my teaching discipline of manual arts. This is an example of how this information will be integrated into the workshop environment to engage learners by introducing ICT's and use this as a format to guide classroom discussions and practical exercises.

The first and third subject areas, shown above, will be first discussed openly in the class. Several links to declarative knowledge will be explored. Both of these areas may be replicated within classroom practical exercises to enhance the active learning experience for individuals. This would include identifying metal lathe components and experimenting with the functionality of the lathe. The woodwork joints can also be identified by manipulating pre-prepared models of these joints, addition demonstrations and reconstruction of joints by individuals (Wikepedia, 2010).

The second subject, listed in the above document, will be used as a discussion point for authentic application of the skills that students are about to gain through this course. Links will be made to various professional careers possibilities, as well as, discuss areas where these skills may be applied in non-professional roles for example: support, labouring and design roles or for application at home; making a guinea pig cage for the kids, a cubby house, replacing a door, fixing other items around the home, for charity organisations, family and friends. The idea is to link authentic interests of students to the subject to increase motivation and learning (Wikepedia, 2010).

Hi Peter,

With all this great technology at our fingertips it makes you wonder how we ever did without it! You obviously make great use of the technology available to you. I was wondering if you have you discovered any other technology resources to assist you in this field while undertaking this course?

Cheers
Meryl
