Using " Blogs " to deliver classroom projects

Have you ever wondered how ICT's might fit into a Manual Arts class or Cooking class?  I have developed the following industrial technology and design (ITD) project using a " Blog " to engage students.  My intention is to engage students in a different and flexible learning environment.  They are invited to resolve a real world problem  by researching, analyzing and developing solutions which they are then able to communicate to key stakeholders and/ decision makers outside of the classroom.  They have the opportunity to donate back to their community in some way and reflect upon their learning experience - giving meaning to their learning journey in preparation for real world issues ahead of them.  This process also increases learning and assessment opportunity involving fundamental literacy and numeracy indicators.

To view the learning experience plans (LEP's) I have developed, for an ITD Community Cultural Project, follow this link:

Another way to utilize a " Blog " to aid teaching and learning is as I have exemplified under the following link.  Here, I have established a " Class Blog " to capture specific information stemming from daily lessons.  This may be in the format of a PowerPoint; video clip; reference to a web site; a scanned document; pictures; audio; and even Vodcasts or Podcasts from the days lesson.  By using this tool, students who may not be able to attend a lesson for any reason may still access the lesson online at their convenience and not miss vital information or learning opportunity.   In this manner - learning and support is available 24 hours a day all year round.  Furthermore, the codification of such information can be readily shared with other teachers and students from around the world and improve teaching and learning outcomes for all.  Information wihin this link will explain further.
