Using " Prezi " to explain a concept: Example - What is TPACK?

What is PCK?

Pedagogical Content Knowledge (PCK): the teacher understands the central concepts, tools of enquiry, and structures of the discipline(s) he or she teaches (teaching strategies) and can create learning experiences that make these aspects of subject matter meaningful for students.

What is TPACK?

Technological Pedagogical and Content Knowledge (TPACK) uses teachers technological knowledge to bring together their content knowledge and specified teaching strategies or pedagogy for the benefit of the learner. It builds upon the PCK framework of Shulman (1986).

TPACK does not use technology as an add-on to communicate content.  It goes beyond this to integrate available technologies as part of the learning outcome and pedagogical practice for each content area.  As an example: to use AutoCAD and Word software in Industrial Design and Technology course-ware or a Wiki to produce an online text covering the history as per Korean International School's "A Broken World: A Modern World History Wiki-Text Book" (Burell, 2007).

'A teacher who has a working knowledge of technology and who has expertise in using this technology for pedagogical purposes, in sound ways for each discipline area has a form of expertise greater than the knowledge of a disciplinary expert, a pedagogical expert and a technology expert combined. This is Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge' (Fasso, 2010, July 8).
This is explained more clearly within the following animation:
